Date of death: January 26, 2017, at age 84

Arrangements: A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church (602 15th Ave., Two Harbors, MN) on February 11, 2017. Visitation will take place prior to the service, starting at noon.

Appointment information: Rev. Walters ordained as a deacon in 1960 and as an elder in 1967. Before moving to Minnesota, he served as a chaplain at various hospitals and clinics in the Mississippi, Iowa, and Illinois-Great Rivers annual conferences. From 1984 until his retirement in 1998, he served Minnesota churches in Perham, Dent, Richville, Little Falls, and Duluth.

Rev. Walters is survived by his wife, Lou (Gloria) Walters and five sons and their families. He has eight grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his son, Robert.
