Arrangements: A memorial service was held on November 28 at First United Methodist Church of DeKalb, Illinois.

Appointment information: Rev. Bell was ordained as a deacon in 1954 and as an elder in 1957. He served Minnesota congregations in Willmar and Minneapolis and retired in 1982.

Rev. Monroe Bell is survived by his children Jim (Cynthia Bland-Bell) Bell and Kate (David Houston) Bell; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret F. "Peggy" Bell, and his daughter, Margaret L. "Margo" Bell.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts are encouraged to the Margaret F. Bell scholarship fund at Swarthmore College (500 College Avenue, Swarthmore, PA 19081), the Monroe Bell scholarship fund at Hamline University (1536 Hewitt Ave., St. Paul, MN 55104), Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church (511 Groveland Ave., Minneapolis, MN 55403), or First United Methodist Church of Evanston, Illinois (516 Church St., Evanston, IL 60201).
