Appointment information: Rev. Nelson was ordained as a deacon in 1962 and as an elder in 1964. He served Minnesota churches in Lafayette, Brighton, Winthrop, and Minneapolis (Riverview UMC, Lake Harriet UMC, North UMC, and Portland Avenue UMC). He retired in 1997.

Rev. Nelson is survived by his wife, Sandra Nelson; daughter, Annalise Nelson (Lee Drutman); two grandchildren; and nephew, Kevin Caldwell. He was preceded in death by parents, Oscar and Anne Nelson and sister, Lois Caldwell.
