Arrangements: A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. May 15 at Montevideo UMC (731 N. 11th St., Montevideo). A visitation will take place at the church one hour prior to the service.

Appointment information: Rev. Halstead was ordained in the South Dakota Conference as a deacon in 1945 and as an elder in 1946. He served several churches in the Dakotas before serving Clarkfield UMC in Minnesota and as the administrator of the United Methodist Brookside Manor Retirement Home in Montevideo. He retired in 1979.

Rev. Halstead is survived by his children, Marlitt (Diane) Halstead, Rosalene (Danny) Mooney, and Duane (Janet) Halstead; 7 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 3 step great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his first wife Martena; his second wife Lucille; and his great-granddaughter, Cynthia Halstead.

Memorials are preferred to Montevideo United Methodist Church (731 N. 11th St., Montevideo, MN 56265-1626) or Asbury Theological Seminary.
