Arrangements: A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. May 20 at Belgrade Avenue UMC, 325 Sherman St., North Mankato, MN 56003. A visitation will take place at the church one hour prior to the service.

Appointment information: Rev. Walkes was ordained as an elder in 1950. He served Minnesota churches in Pipestone, Kiester, Robbinsdale, Minneapolis, and Le Sueur. He also served as a district superintendent. He retired in 1983.

Rev. Walkes is survived by his wife, Helen Walkes; his children, Rev. Deb Walkes and Laurie (David) Helgerson; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Reuben Walkes; his sister, Dorthy Stocker; his brother, Rev. Roland Walkes; and his brother, Ray Walkes.
