Arrangements: A celebration of life will be held July 28 at 11 a.m. at Ely UMC (305 E Camp St., Ely). A visitation will be held at the church an hour prior to the service. The service will be live streamed by Ely UMC.

Appointment information: Rev. Soderfelt was ordained as a deacon in 1970 and as an elder in 1974. He served Minnesota churches in Pine City, Brook Park, Granada, Blue Earth (First UMC), Mahtomedi, Inver Grove Heights (Mount Bethel UMC), Janesville, and Elysian. He retired in 2000.

Rev. Soderfelt is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Anne, and his grandson, Alcyd (Cyd) Soderfelt. He is survived by his children, Sarah (Scott) Anderson, Heidi (Tom) Omerza, Rachel Soderfelt, and Alcyd (Allison) Soderfelt; siblings, Adeline Smith, Arlene (Gerald) Seemann, Alan Soderfelt, Alon Soderfelt, Allard Soderfelt, Angie (Carl) Wiebe, and Art (Beth) Soderfelt; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
