Steve Michael Anderson, a lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy, joined the Navy to fulfill his lifelong dream of becoming a doctor. He was stationed at the Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth, where he was completing his anesthesiology residency program. He was a graduate of the Air Force Academy and served as a major in the Air Force before joining the Navy. He died of a heart attack while jogging. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his wife, Rev. Jennifer Hill Anderson, and their 6-month-old son, Thaddeus.
Arrangements: A funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Oct. 26 at Naval Station Norfolk Chapel in Virginia. (Attendees are asked to wear dress blues or equivalent.) A visitation will occur prior to the service, at 9 a.m.
Appointment information: Rev. Jennifer Hill Anderson became a licensed local pastor in 2003 and an ordained elder in 2007. Since 2008, she has served as a chaplain in the U.S. Navy and is a lieutenant commander. Prior to that, she served at Cross Winds UMC in Maple Grove and as a clinical pastoral education resident at Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park.
Steve Michael Anderson is survived by his wife, Rev. Jennifer Hill Anderson and their son, Thaddeus William Anderson, both of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and his parents, Katherine (Kay) and William (Bill) Anderson, of Nashville, Tennessee.
