2021 NCJ Special Session

A Special Called Session of the North Central Jurisdictional (NCJ) Conference has been called on Nov. 10-11, 2021. It will take place virtually. Delegates from each conference will be part of the official Zoom meeting, and others can watch it live on this page. Below is a detailed agenda for the two days (times listed are for the Central time zone). The three big topics of conversation are: dismantling racism, the future of episcopal leadership, and the future of The United Methodist Church. The agenda will not include the election of new episcopal leaders, or members of general boards and agencies.

Rev. Carol Zaagsma, Dave Nuckols, Rev. Woojae Im, and Becky Boland are Minnesota’s delegates to the NCJ Conference. Alternate delegates are Revs. Jeff Ozanne, Susan Mullin, Henry Dolopei, and Donna Dempewolf, along with lay people Walker Brault, Cindy Saufferer, Jessica Lanes, and Shirley Durr.

The United Methodist Church is divided into five jurisdictions in the United States. Every four years, elected members of the Minnesota Delegation attend the North Central Jurisdictional Conference to elect new bishops and select members of general boards and agencies. The NCJ was scheduled for 2020; however, the global pandemic and the postponement of General Conference resulted in a delay and prompted a virtual and scaled-back gathering.
