This January, an “Imagine No More Malaria” fundraiser was held at Fairfax United Methodist Church to help meet the church's Imagine No Malaria pledge. A total of $1,898 in bids were made and accepted.
The silent auction started as an in-church auction but was soon heard about within the Fairfax community. The church was open on days published in local newspapers and people from the community came in to bid on items. It became a fun fundraising event which everyone enjoyed while working for a good cause.
Some of the items donated for sale were 3 loads of gravel, ½ day of carpenters labor, children’s books, homemade hardanger, homemade greeting cards, homemade shrung, pot of award winning chili, 4 hours of house cleaning, Christmas decorations, homemade jam, a movie night basket, catered supper for two, tickets to Minnesota Zoo, a trip to the Minnesota Science Museum, an hour-long full-body massage, a scrapbooking package, home made lefsa, and much more.
Additionally, about $365 was received in “Noisy Offering” and donations for “Imagine No More Malaria." $302 had been made in previous “Noisy Offerings.” The total amount raised from these events was $2,565.11 for Imagine No Malaria. This met the $2,500 pledge made for the three-year period!
It was a thrilling time knowing we were joining Jesus in healing the sick and saving lives!
