Can you hear the loons calling from the northwoods of Minnesota?
This summer, they are singing for Ed Dallas, who is riding his bicycle over 4000 miles across the country from Maine to Washington! Ed is riding to increase awareness and raise support for the Mobile Ministry, a MInnesota Annual Conference mission to the communities of Kabetogama and Crane Lake in the far Northwoods of Minnesota at the entrances to Voyageur's National Park and the Boundary Waters Canoe Area.
Ed will be riding for about 90 days beginning on May 17. He will be in Minnesota in late June. Ed says: "At some time during a person's life, there will be the need for pastoral care and for those who don't live in a major urban area, that care might not be available. The Mobile Ministry assures the people in Crane Lake and Kabetogama that they will have access to pastoral care."
Roger Parrish-Siggelkow is the pastor of Kabetogama UMC and Crane Lake Chapel, which are the only churches in both communities. In the summer months, Voyageur's National Park host over 200,000 visitors and Pastor Roger is the only Christian pastoral ministry presence in the park.
To support the Mobile Ministry, you can send donations to UMC Mobile Ministry: P O Box 128, Orr, MN 55771. The memo section of the check should read "Bike Ride" or if you are attending a UMC church, you can help the Mobile Ministry as an Advance Special of the Minnesota Annual Conference through your church offering.
