I pray this Fall season finds you well. It has been my practice to host and preside over District Cluster Conferences in the Fall. The pandemic continues to create opportunities to shift and adapt. This year, I will hold one Virtual District Wide Conference via Zoom on Tuesday, December 15 at 6:30 pm.
Please plan on approximately 90 minutes for worship, teaching and individual church conference voting. For congregations that are not holding their own Church Conference, your Church/Ad Council must pre‐approve the clergy compensation and other actions as noted below. During the District Wide Conference, your church’s approvals will be ratified.
Please invite your entire congregation to attend. Consider attending even if you are holding your own individual church conference.
This has been a difficult year for many, both individually and collectively. This has also been a year that where we have experienced surprising resilience and adaptation. During our Conference, using Walter Brueggeman’s, Virus as a Summons to Faith as a Guide, join me in reflecting on how we can live through the pandemic toward a more fruitful and inclusive future.
My hope is that by connecting with each other, we each will come away encouraged and hopeful that this year, while painful, is an opportunity to grow stronger, better and move steps closer to who God has created and called us to be.
To facilitate the work of the conference, each church should prepare a packet for distribution to your members who will be attending the conference. The packet will contain the following materials:
1) Form 1 Nominations Report
2) Form 2 & 3 Certified Lay Speaker and Ministry Candidate Report
3) Form 4 Membership Report
4) Form 5-7 Pastoral Compensation Report
Each congregation will vote on each of these matters as applicable. I look forward to being with you and rejoicing in God’s presence and actions in and through us!
Blessings and Regards,
