Are You Interested in Becoming an Interim Pastor?
Have you ever wondered if you are called to do interim ministry? Interim ministry is a specialized type of ministry that helps congregations make healthy transitions in between pastors. The Bishop and cabinet often use short-term interim pastors when there have been unusual circumstances which led to a pastor’s early departure (i.e. a medical leave) or when a pastor is taking an intentional, renewal leave. Other circumstances under which the cabinet would consider a longer term interim pastor is when there has been a long pastoral tenure and the congregation needs time to adjust to a new style of leadership or when there has been some significant conflict or underlying issues in the congregation.
If you sense you might be called to this unique form of ministry or you are simply curious about it, please join us on Thursday September 28 at 10 a.m. on Zoom for an orientation to interim ministry. There will be a panel of interims who will share their experiences and talk about the formal training they received as well as other interims who will be present to share their experiences and answer your questions. This session will be recorded and placed on MNSource.
