Number of weeks: 3
Live video session?: Yes, optional
“Being there” for young people means more to them than you know! Youth and young adults people need the examples and experiences of faithful adults to become mature Christians themselves.
But it takes more than just casually interacting with a young person to grow their faith. Having a trusted Christian adult mentor to talk with about call — and how to follow that call — is critical in helping young people follow their God-given passion and purpose. And when young people follow their call from God, they are more engaged, more driven, and more devoted to the ministries of the church.
This three-week course helps adult laypeople form a mentoring relationship with a young person to produce spiritual growth. It teaches you how to talk with a young person about faith and calling, helping them participate in church and serve God throughout their lives. By the end of this course, you’ll have the tools, resources, and support of a mentoring community to develop and sustain faithful, meaningful, and dynamic mentoring relationships with young people.
The mentoring style taught in this course is primarily intended for one-on-one relationships, but the practices and advice will work when mentoring small groups of young people, as well.
There will be an optional video gathering during this course. We plan to hold these meetings at 9:30 PM EST during a weeknight to help those in other time zones but will do an initial poll to establish availability.
No one walks through their faith journey alone. Be the guide a young Christian in your life needs to follow God!
This course is eligible for 1.0 CEU.
