For anyone starting a new appointment:

Exciting times are ahead and you begin a new ministry!  One of the things we have learned along the way is that getting off to a strong start sets the tone for your entire ministry, and the first 100 days are critical to that start.  We discussed some of those pieces at the Ending Well workshop, but now that the day is here when you are in your new setting, we would like to invite you to a workshop to help you think even more deeply on how you will enter and lead in these first few months.  You will walk out with a 1st 100 Day plan, as well as some practical tips on how to lead intentionally and avoid the pitfalls that could undermine your leadership.

Friday, July 19 is the day.  We will meet in Assembly 1 and 2 of the Minnesota Council of Churches building.  We will begin at 9:30 am and conclude by 4:00 pm.  Lunch is included. If you have never done the Gallup Strengthsfinders, we would like you to take that inventory before the workshop since you will be using that in your preparation.  You can purchase the book Strengthsfinder 2.0 by Tom Rath, and in the book, you will find a code to take the inventory.  It is available in most bookstores.  Or you can go to https://www.gallupstrengthscenter.com/ and click on purchase Clifton Strengthsfinder, and purchase the Top Five Strengths for $9.99.  Same assessment, you just will only get the in-depth description for your five strengths.  The book describes them all.

We also have some questions for you to reflect on.  Some may be more applicable than others, but please review them and jot notes on the ones that are pertinent.

1)      What are your five Strength Finders Themes (and their proper order?)
2)      As you reflect on your current ministry location, what are your greatest take-a-ways regarding your ministry in your current assignment? (i.e. what went well, what did you struggle with…)
3)      What are three things you’d like to try in your next ministry assignment?
4)      If you were to reinvent your ministry, what would it look like?
5)      Where have you sabotaged yourself in regards to your ministry? (i.e. what types of struggles do you face on a consistent basis?)
6)      What are your top three ministry fears?
7)      What components of ministry have given you the greatest success and/or ministry fulfillment?  What makes them successful or fulfilling?
8)      What is most exciting to you about the new ministry appointment?
9)      What is most anxiety-provoking for you as you think about the new ministry appointment?
10)   What does support from your DS look like for you as you prepare and launch your new ministry assignment?
