All are welcome to a special choral recital with acclaimed tenor Johnnie Felder and the chancel choir of the White Bear Lake UMC to celebrate Black History Month through sacred music on Thursday, Feb. 16. Felder, a native of South Carolina, is an expressive opera singer known for his impressive range, lyricism and captivating vocal power, with his European debut in 2019 as Rinuccio in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi. Beyond opera, he is known for solo concert and recital successes. Felder holds bachelors and graduate music degrees from Benedict College and the University of South Carolina, where he is currently a doctoral candidate.
The recital, led by Director of Traditional Music Dr. Gerald Gurss, begins at 7 p.m. on Feb. 16 at White Bear Lake United Methodist Church, 1851 Birch St. This event is free and open to the public. For further information, please contact the church office at office@wblumc.org or 651-429-9026.
