The Haiti Partnership announces its 2018 trip to Yvon, Haiti leaving on Sunday November 4 and returning on Tuesday, November 13. This is an ecumenical group of rural congregations in Central Minnesota working in partnership with our Haitian brothers and sisters and Eglise Methodiste d'Haiti to develop sustainable solutions to health services delivery, local economic development, and clean water access. In the past three years the Haiti Partnership has brought mobile clinics, funded several micro-credit banks, distributed water filters along with sanitation training, and built a water cistern and several homes in this rural community located on the southern peninsula.
The Haiti Partnership is recruiting a 10-person travel team. The Haiti Partnership works to keep the costs of personal travel including airfare at no more than $1,500. The Partnership works together to raise the money for the projects chosen. While in country, the team will spend one day doing some sightseeing to get a bigger picture of Haiti.
Prior to the trip, team members are asked to come together for four meetings to get to know each other, learn more about Haiti, and plan the travel and work. The first team meeting will be scheduled in April, but the larger Partnership group will meet on Sunday February 11 to begin discussions on projects for this trip. Meetings typically take place at First United Church in Little Falls, but the site can be changed depending on the location of team members.
