Youth Ministry Leader

Richfield UMC is seeking a youth ministry leader to accompany young people grades 6-12 along their journey of faith while equipping them to live faithfully, compassionately engaging with the church and world, and helping them to be integrated into the life of this church.

Administer Youth Ministry Programs

  • Lead weekly Youth Group Activities with focus on faith formation (traditionally Wednesdays and Sundays)
  • Seek appropriate curriculum with the Pastor for continued faith formation and daily living our faith
  • Maintain annual budget and resources for the youth ministry programs
  • Publicize all youth activities and opportunities
  • Reach out to all Richfield United Methodist and community youth inviting them to participate in events / activities
  • Organize and celebrate milestones in the lives of Youth – Starting High school, Graduation
Work collaboratively with leaders / volunteers to coordinate ministry opportunities for youth
  • Help recruit and train volunteers to implement curriculum and events in all aspects of youth ministry
  • Have completed background checks for all adults who volunteer in youth ministry
  • Help lead Youth Council meetings as they occur 
Plan and implement Summer Mission Experience
  • Recruit leadership team of adults to help with implementation
  • Oversee all planning and logistics for the trip or service days
  • Implement fundraising efforts
  • Communicate with families participating 
Work collaboratively with Richfield UMC Staff
  • Promote and lead intergenerational activities throughout the year
  • Communicate calendaring and publicity with Program and Communications Coordinator
  • Communicate set up requests and building needs with building manager
Serve as staff liaison to the congregation for the youth in support of other ministries


  • Two years of education after high school
  • Experience with middle school and/or high school preferred, and enjoys working with them
  • An active faith in Jesus Christ and ability to articulate it verbally and in daily living
  • Solid understanding of Wesleyan theology and relational ministry
  • Ability to facilitate youth Bible studies and lead prayer
  • Knowledge and understanding of current youth culture and family systems
  • Flexible, with strong communication, organizational, mangagement and team building skills
  • Ability to recruit, and lead volunteers
  • Ability to work in a cooperative and professional manner with the various committees and groups of the congregation to fulfill the mission of the church
  • Ability to communicate and work with the church staff
