We are called together for worship, fellowship and building a global Christian community. Youth are an important part of our church and to help better serve the needs of our youth, we are looking to build and promote the youth program. We are looking for a dynamic person to serve as youth director.

Role of the youth director

We are looking for a person with training and experience in youth and family ministry, education, or significant experience in youth ministry. The director of youth ministry shall seek to foster Christian community through building relationships with young people that strengthen their commitment to Christ and the church. They will direct and lead youth programming for middle school and high school youth. The position requires a person who will generate new ideas and programs and a person who values a team concept of ministry. This would include activities and events that appeal to youth, while encouraging them to be faithful followers of Jesus Christ. The position requires flexibility in hours available for work, including evenings and weekends. Good organizational skills are a must for this position. 

Working Conditions
  • This position is based on a projected 10 hours a week.  It is recognized that the schedule may vary at different times of the year.
  • Keep the church informed as to how the youth director can be contacted.
  • Office, phone, computer, voice mail, email, Internet services, duplicating, secretarial support and social media director support is provided by the congregation for work related to this position.
  • Budgetary support for activities related to the youth programs
  • Coordinate program with education area and provide reports to the church council on the activities of the youth.

Duties:

  • Build and promote a youth program
  • Weekly youth gatherings with age appropriate activities for middle and high school youth that promote community through faith development, fellowship and fun.  Arrive early to set up and tear down when finished. (4 hours)
  • Attend most Sunday morning worship services and participate in worship on occasion. (3 hours)
  • Preparation time for weekly youth gatherings which could include, but not limited to activities such as small group Bible study, musical and dramatic presentations, and service projects. (2 hours)
  • Maintaining communication with youth via phone calls, text, email and other forms of social media. (1 hour)
  • Establish meaningful personal relationships with the young people in the congregation and community by attending extracurricular activities as time allows.
  • We realize that this may involve more than 10 hours per week. We are willing to be flexible with additional hours as needed.
