Worship Leader

The worship leader, under the supervision of the lead pastor, is responsible for selecting music, leading rehearsals, and guiding the music portions of each service. This role is part-time (estimated at 7 hours/ week).

Statement of Reconciliation
Peace United Methodist Church is a place of peace for all that choose to enter the doors. Duties:
Worship Leading

  • Select music that aligns with the themes of sermon series, work closely with lead pastor
  • Music selections include congregational worship, liturgical selections, instrumental pieces, and special music (based on theme)
  • Choir will plan to sing once-per-month on Sunday morning and once-per-month at local care facility
  • Prepare for special services (such as Christmas Eve, Easter, Good Friday, Ash Wednesday, etc.)
  • Recruit worship team members
  • Meet weekly for one hour to rehearse
  • Work closely with audio technician to ensure best possible sound
  • Must find substitute worship leader when needed
  • If possible, invite local musicians to accompany team
Worship Team as Ministry
  • Create space for relationship building
  • Provide scriptural connection to music selections
  • Be willing to prayerfully support the members of the worship team

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in worship leading
  • Piano (keyboard) or acoustic guitar proficiency required
  • Willing and able to work with musicians of varying backgrounds and skill levels
  • Experience in teaching and developing musicians individually and as a group
  • Knowledge of vocal pedagogy with experience leading vocalists
  • Understand copyright procedures and expectations
  • Prepare music for bulletin and digital presentation (Pro-Presenter, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Must possess good organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Must maintain a high degree of confidentiality
  • Must be motivated to work with volunteers
