Seeking Partner Congregation for Cemetery

published 7/18/2023

Lydia Zion UMC is seeking another Methodist congregation to join in the use and upkeep of Concord Cemetery.

Concord Cemetery, located in rural Scott County was established in 1856 by the English speaking Methodist Episcopal Church nearby. For many years since then, the grounds have been lovingly maintained and managed by the Lydia Zion United Methodist Church. The cemetery and church are located about six miles southeast of Prior Lake.

For several years, there have been fewer burials in the cemetery, resulting in a sizeable portion of the grounds open. With this in mind, Lydia, Zion UMC is seeking another Methodist congregation to join in the use and upkeep of Concord Cemetery.

There is no upfront cost associated with this request. The cemetery is currently managed by a board and is financially sound. The only expectation is that another church becomes a full partner in the management of Concord Cemetery. In return, the partner church would be in a position to provide a final resting place for their members in a conveniently located, yet rural and serene setting.
