The Minnesota Conference Leadership Development Office offers this new opportunity for your church to raise up the next generation of leaders!
NEXT is a grant of up to $500 for your congregation to create a high school internship opportunity for a student within your community. This grant is focused on our common mission of making disciples for the transformation of the world and is designed for your intern to have a unique look at lay and ordained ministry leadership within your congregation. We believe that all are called and strategically deployed and that building a culture of discipleship and call are primary roles for all of our Minnesota congregations.
We plan on inviting all high school interns (grant recipients AND established program high school interns) to connect with our ELI Interns (our college-aged summer internship program) this summer and share opportunities for discipleship and discernment, creating a broader eco-system of call in the Minnesota Annual Conference.
Our hope is that this internship will be more than a pair of extra hands around church or a summer job for a student. Your NEXT internship should be an invitation for a young person in your community to discern about their own sense of vocation, to explore what a ministry career might look like, and to experience discipleship from a leader's point of view. Applications are due April 15, 2020.
Your church must meet these two requirements to be offered a NEXT grant:
1) This must be a NEW program in your church. We will not grant funds to churches that already offer a high school ministry internship program.
2) High school interns must be given the opportunity to experience leadership in at least TWO of the following ministy areas:
-Children, youth, and family ministry
-Leading a Bible study
