Benefits Manager

The Minnesota Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, a faith-based regional conference organization, is looking for a full-time benefits manager to administer benefit plans for employees, clergy, and retirees of the Conference. The benefits are managed through a subsidiary company, Minnesota Conference Board of Pensions, Inc., (MCBPI) and are affiliated with the national organization of the United Methodist Church.
 
This role will be expected to be onsite for training, and then may transition to hybrid. This position will have two half-time direct reports in the finance area.

The benefits manager will be responsible for providing benefit plan support and administration to current and retired employees. This includes but is not limited to reporting, data/documentation, and benefits administration (health, retirement, disability, life, etc.).

Benefits: health insurance, employer contribution to retirement savings equal to 6 percent of compensation, 10 days of vacation, sick leave. 

Duties:

  • Develop, maintain, and ensure accurate reporting for all current and retired employees benefit plans.
  • Provide plan participants with access to accurate and timely information about benefits.
  • Attend Annual Conference Session (2–3-day annual meeting in the spring) and all board and committee meetings.
  • Assist in writing necessary documents for the Minnesota Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church Journal.
  • Assist director and policy-making body with developing the appropriate conference health insurance plan for all current and retired employees.
  • Manage the staff and/or any independent contractors preparing the billing for pensions and health plan participants.
  • Working with the director, conduct all vendor engagements on pension and health issues and manage the relationship between the company and third-party benefits vendor.
  • Keep required records of service and benefit participation for individual clergy and lay (non-clergy) employees.
  • Other activities as assigned, include attending training in Chicago and annual conference benefits association meetings (total about one week).

Compensation:
$75,000-80,000 and a $5,000 signing bonus after six months.
