Administrative Assistant for Connectional Ministries

The Minnesota Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church is seeking a detail-oriented person who can manage multiple projects and has a heart for serving others to support our efforts in leadership development, congregational vitality, and clergy well-being.
 
The Minnesota Annual Conference is a small but complex organization, comprised of 350 churches of every size and in every geographical region of Minnesota; 250 active clergy; 2 camps and its related staff; and 25 conference staff to support the work of our clergy and local churches and care for the administrative functions of the annual conference.  It is incorporated as a non-profit (501c3) organization and has an operational budget of 15.7 million dollars.  We are a regional judicatory of the world-wide United Methodist Church.

Duties:

The administrative assistant for connectional ministries would provide administrative support for the directors of leadership development, congregational vitality, and clergy well-being.  This person would be expected to:

  • Provide administrative support to clergy learning and congregational development programs such as ELI Project, Clergy On-Boarding, Clergy Leadership Academy, Choosing the Faithful Path, Practical Church Leadership, Shmita and others.
  • Coordinate communication of program information to clergy, congregations, and conference staff including conference communications staff.
  • Track clergy and congregational learning information in database.
  • Create digital presentations, e-newsletters, update website information, and design printed materials as needed.
  • Process billing and expenses for programs.
  • Administration of on-line learning modules and posting of materials electronically for the various programs.

Qualifications:

  • Committed to the mission and values of the United Methodist Church
  • Experience in administration, project management, training & development support.
  • Detail orientation with strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-starter, will initiate actions and be self-directed in their work, accountable to commitments and deliverables.
  • Computer skills necessary. Proficient with MS Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint. Familiarity with Canva, HubSpot and Adobe helpful.  Experience with creating e-newsletters.

Compensation:
Hourly, 30-40 hours a week. Position is open immediately. Starting salary is $19-21 an hour based on experience. Benefits include single health and employer pension contribution. Generous PTO. Flexible work environment.
