Pianist/Organist/Acompanist

First UMC in Stillwater is seeking a part-time pianist/organist to join our church staff. The church is nestled in the stunning St. Croix Valley. The position is 15hours/week with a $400/week salary.

The applicant must be available Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings. This position coordinates closely with the pastor, who is an accomplished cellist, and our talented & enthusiastic musical director. The position reports directly to the pastor and indirectly to the Staff-Parish Relations Committee.

Instrument Particulars: The organ is a 2006 Rodgers Trillium hybrid with two ranks of pipes and MIDI capability.

Duties:

  • Provide music for Sunday morning services: prelude, postlude, hymns, offertory & incidental music during communion
  • Provide music for special services: Christmas, Easter & Lent *Accompany Chancel Choir rehearsals on Wednesday evenings & Sunday morning worship *Accompany Open Circle, our contemporary music ensemble, rehearsals and Sunday morning worship
  • Accompany soloists or small ensembles as needed *Provide music for Funerals & Weddings as needed
  • Coordinate with the Music Director, Pastor, and Worship Committee

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have experience as a church musician and an understanding of the theological role of music in worship. A Bachelor of Music degree is preferred, but not required.

Compensation:
Salary $400/week
