Senior Maintenance Technician

Hennepin Avenue UMC is seeking a full-time senior maintenance technician to maintain a hospitable facility during events and activities and perform general maintenance and repairs of facilities, including HVAC, boilers, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and custodial tasks.

Duties:
REGULAR DUTIES:

  • Maintenance and operation of HVAC equipment
  • Maintenance and operation of low-pressure steam and hot water boilers, including testing
  • Basic electrical and plumbing
  • Work with vendors to service facilities equipment
  • General repairs to the facility including but not limited to: basic carpentry, patching of walls, doors and hardware, painting, caulking joints, minor masonry, etc.
  • Basic grounds maintenance, including litter pickup
  • Room setups
  • Cleaning and other custodial duties
  • Activating / deactivating security alarms
OCCASIONAL DUTIES:
  • Provide leadership to successfully employ all emergency procedures during an emergency situation
  • Some snow shoveling and sidewalk salting as needed until contractor can arrive
  • Performs other job-related duties or special projects

Qualifications:
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to perform with confidence listed job duties
  • Ability to independently prioritize job duties / responsibilities
  • Ability to relate to people in a pleasant and positive manner, maintaining a helper's heart at all times
  • 3+ years of building maintenance or other applicable experience
  • 1st Class C boiler operator’s license (or higher), preferred
  • Verse in HVAC system maintenance and operation (primarily electronically controlled)
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot issues
  • Good analytical and technical skills
  • Computer literacy
  • Ability to effectively function as a team player
  • Strong work ethic
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Work with and around congregational members and other staff members while keeping a professional demeanor.
  • The ability to lift up to 50 pounds and travel stairs is a must to perform the essential job duties of this position.
  • Must be able to climb and work in elevated conditions, including but not limited to roof, ladders, mechanical lift, and ceiling work.
  • Work to be performed both indoors and outdoors 12 months of the year

Compensation:
$22-26 per hour, depending on qualifications
