Little Prairie UMC in Dundas is seeking a part-time children’s minister who can provide visionary leadership and oversight to children’s ministry (birth–fifth grade) in collaboration with the pastor and children’s ministry team. This is a new grant-funded position that pays $18/hour, approximately 10 hours per week (primarily evenings and weekends).

Role: To provide the visionary leadership and oversight of responsibilities of Children’s Ministry (birth – fifth grade) in collaboration with the pastor and children’s ministry team.
Supervision: Reports to pastor
Duties:
- Develop a vision and strategy for discipleship within the Children’s Ministry that works in conjunction with the overall vision and ministry of Little Prairie United Methodist Church.
- Build and develop the Children’s Ministry Leadership Team, which consists of key committed and gifted volunteers.
- Lead, recruit, train, and develop volunteers for the Children’s Ministry.
- Develop and implement strategy with pastor and Children’s Ministry team for whole-family discipleship; working with families to equip and empower parents/families to disciple their children.
- Provide oversight and planning for all aspects of Children’s Ministry programming in collaboration with the Pastor and Children’s Ministry Team, including:
- Sunday school
- Wednesday night programming
- Sunday/Wednesday kids’ community groups
- Specialized classes
- Outreach events
- Vacation Bible School, family events/programming
- Provide oversight to Children’s Ministry budget and help develop the budgetary needs for upcoming years.
- Attend bi-monthly staff meetings.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and social media
- Communicate and promote children’s ministry offerings to the congregation and larger community through a variety of mediums including social media.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or degree in progress preferred. Completed coursework in child development or education preferred. Degree in progress for education, child development, ministry and theology majors is acceptable. General knowledge of scripture and Methodist theology.
- Experience with programs for children birth through fifth grade in church or other nonprofit organizations.Work experience as church staff position or intern preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills that build rapport with people across all ages and backgrounds.
- Ability to plan and implement new ways to reach and engage children in the church. Interest in technology and content creation preferred.
- Clear criminal background check.
Compensation:
$18/hour
