Co-Director of Alternative Worship Music

Minnehaha UMC in Minneapolis is seeking a musician and co-director of its second worship service.

Skills include:

·       Instrumental proficiency, preferably more than keyboard

·       Collaborative spirit with all musicians of the church, paid and volunteer

·       Ability to vocally lead congregational as well as band singing

·       Familiarity with a wide range of music from folk to rock to reggae to jazz to . . .

The contemporary music directors lead and play music at the second Sunday worship service which features a band with instrumentalists, percussion, and singers as well as congregational singing. The contemporary music directors are responsible for:

·       Providing and arranging music for the contemporary service in keeping with the theme for that day, drawing in a wide genre of music

·       Recruiting volunteer musicians from the congregation and/or hiring extra musicians.

·       Leading music on Sunday mornings and church holidays (Christmas Eve and Easter Sunday services are required).

·       Working with musicians in other areas on church-wide music programming

Rehearsals are typically on Wednesday evenings. This position will require between 10-15 hours a week when shared with our current co-director.
