Finance and Facility Administrator

Minnetonka UMC is seeking a part-time finance and facility administrator manages the church facility while overseeing effective and efficient stewardship of the church’s physical and financial resources.

** This position can be combined with that of the office administrator to create a full-time, benefits-eligible position. **

Duties:
Basic Position Responsibilities/Tasks:

  • Maintains up-to-date electronic documentation and an awareness of church financial
  • Provides monthly financial reports to the Servant Leadership Board and an abbreviated, basic quarterly summary for the congregation
  • Prepares the church budget in cooperation with the Leadership Board
  • Monitors the church budget, income and expenses on an ongoing basis
  • Acts as bookkeeper for general operating, mortgage and savings accounts
  • Reconciles all cash accounts, balance sheets, funds and donations
  • Completes journal entries and closes out each month
  • Oversees and maintains all payroll, employment and tax-specific records (i.e., I-9s and W-4s); processes withholding on a monthly and/or quarterly basis; reconciles documentation (at least quarterly)
  • Ensures church, clergy and/or staff contributions to Wespath pension or retirement accounts for clergy and staff are made and records are accurately maintained
  • Issues staff and clergy W-2s and 1099s annually
  • Participating in financial stewardship planning and implementation efforts, and any/all church audits and capital campaigns
  • Generating specific financial reports for the pastor and/or Leadership Board upon request
  • Completes and submits required, annual reports to The Minnesota Annual Conference
  • Oversees and purchases supplies for ministries throughout the building
  • Coordinates and schedules regular, supplemental and evolving cleaning and room configuration needs
  • Oversees building operations including but not limited to scheduling special events, facility and room usage, maintenance/repair appointments
  • Participates in regularly scheduled and occasional meetings with pastor, staff and committees/teams
  • Develops, maintains and works within an approved budget
  • Fulfills additional duties as assigned

Leadership Responsibilities:
  • Supervises and engages in a routine cycle of check-ins with the custodial team that includes development, evaluation of ministries and goal setting
  • Builds and maintains contacts and relationships with congregants, vendors, guests and those who use the facility
  • Creates and administers strategies to develop, enhance, innovate and improve the financial ministries of the church, which includes goal setting, outcomes and evidence measures
  • Manages the implementation of established financial procedures and internal controls
  • Provides regular updates and feedback to the pastor, Servant Leadership Board and congregation about financial matters

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or graduate level degree in related field
  • Previous church accounting experience preferred
  • Broad knowledge of accounting principles and proficiency using fund accounting, the Microsoft Office Suite and church accounting and payroll software
  • Expertise in management of complex organizational systems, processes, communications and details

Compensation:
$20,000 - $22,000 annually
