Band Leader

The band leader works with the pastor, music director, and organist to organize and implement a variety of creative musical offerings for services.


House Band Leadership - Plan, organize, arrange, and lead performances of secular, contemporary, and alternative music pieces three-four times per month Sept-May, two times a month June-Aug.  Includes:

  • Selecting and arranging music for worship service
  • Identifying and developing the talents of volunteer musicians from the congregation
  • Coordinating group rehearsals with intentional involvement of congregational musicians 
Support of youth and development of youth musicians and youth band
  • Recruiting and developing youth musicians
  • Selecting and arranging music
  • Coordinating rehearsals and performances 
Support and leadership of church’s collective music ministry and other duties as assigned. Includes:
  • Attend weekly staff meetings and worship team meetings
  • Regular musical support for services, such as extra instrumentation for hymns and other music, musical underscoring and transitions
  • Assisting Music Director and Organist with musical needs
  • Member of the choir, subbing for the bell choir as needed
  • Attention and involvement in overall worship planning
Maintain church sound system and equipment and oversight of sound for worship and support for special events including the Music & Art Series. Includes:
  • Purchasing and maintaining new equipment
  • Setting up and taking down equipment for worship and events
  • Leading, recruiting and training the team of sound technicians
  • Coordinating and scheduling with event planners for the setup and takedown of special sound system need

  • Audio/visual technology competency: Able to run and troubleshoot all of the audio/visual equipment at the church
  • Music competency: Able to read, perform, teach, and lead music to a high degree
  • Forward thinking: Able to schedule ahead the different phases of multiple projects and follow deadlines
  • Empowers others: Able to delegate tasks, direct and foster others’ creative energy, and match people’s skills with needs of congregation projects
  • Collaborative working: Able to work on a team and arrive at creative decisions together
