United Methodist Communications (UM Com) in Nashville is seeking an experienced financial professional to oversee planning, coordination, and interpretation of financial goals and objectives to support the vision and mission of United Methodist Communications.
This individual will work closely with the General Commission on Communication and the Foundation for United Methodist Communications, demonstrating advanced knowledge and experience in areas of finance, accounting, business administration management, cost accounting, analyzing and evaluating investment objective. He/she will display proficiency in the areas of: strategic planning, organizing, training, team-building and decision making, demonstrating continuous improvements in professional knowledge while supporting the Core Values as set forth by UMCom.
This individual must provide hope and vision deeply rooted in Christian faith and practice, have strong knowledge of The United Methodist Church structure and polity; enforce policies and procedures and demonstrate cultural sensitivity. Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or finance required; master’s degree/CPA is preferred. Applicants must have a minimum of 6 years of experience in financial leadership and management, along with working knowledge of financial standards as they apply to non-profit entities. Proven experience in fund accounting, general agency and annual conference finance functions for a non-profit or other business entity; understanding and experience with investment management; experience with information systems administration; strong strategic thinking, analytical, organizational and communication skills; excellent oral and written communications skills; skilled at management of staff and multiple priorities; familiarity with financial standards as they apply to a non-profit; must be available for domestic and international travel; solid knowledge of the United Methodist Church, its agencies, conferences and various levels of leadership, theology, structure and programs.
