Church trustees should refer to the 2016 Book of Discipline paragraphs 2525, 2526, 2530, 2532 and 2533 for officers that need to be elected, timing of the elections, and more. Additional information for trustees can be found here.
There are a wide variety of staff and volunteer positions within each church. Discipleship Ministries offers job descriptions for positions required in all congregations, as well as positions suggested for ministry organization and groups. View job descriptions
The conference offers a huge number of resources and tools for congregations and their staff and volunteer leaders. An informational packet detailing these offerings is available to all churches and should be reviewed by all pastors, treasurers, finance chairs, and missions chairs—particularly as they step into their roles. Contact Barb Brower (612-230-6135) to request a hard copy. View packet
Those volunteering for the Minnesota Conference and/or one of its ministry teams can request reimbursement for expenses incurred on behalf of the conference—including meals, mileage, and lodging. To seek reimbursement, volunteers must fill out the appropriate reimbursement request form, have it signed by the leader overseeing the team or project for which the expenses were incurred, and mail it in to the conference office. Each year, it’s important for us to ask strategic questions and receive thoughtful feedback concerning our clergy and congregations. Every Staff-Parish Relations Committee (SPRC) must provide feedback on their appointed clergy to the district superintendent on an annual basis after referencing the "Ministry in the Minnesota Annual Conference" document. Access SPRC clergy feedback worksheet and instructions
New members of the Staff-Parish Relations Committee (SPRC) or those who haven't been trained recently should participate in an SPRC training, periodically led by Rev. Susan Nienaber. This training covers the role and responsibilities of the SPRC and the SPRC chair, nominating members of SPRC, staffing structures, providing feedback, dealing with conflict and concerns, and the SPRC role in the appointment process. Subscribe to the MN Bulletin Board e-newsletter to be notified of upcoming trainings. If you missed the most recent training, please watch this SPRC Training recording.
