Besides being a big red sign, the command to STOP seems like the opposite of what we need to being doing in the Minnesota Annual Conference. We want to Grow in love of God and our neighbors, Reach new people, and Heal a broken world. We have missional urgency! We want the green light, the GO! Rest assured (pun intended) we have the green light and the Go! But truth seems to be a paradox—stopping lets us go in the right direction. It’s the stop that refuels the movement.
So this Advent, how are you pausing? How do you stop so that you can go? How do you practice awareness of God’s presence everyday so that you can go in the right direction and refuel for the movement of abundant life in Jesus Christ?
One of my favorite tools for this time of year is the Year-End Compass, a free, open-sourced reflection booklet to look back on 2017 and forward to 2018. I invite you to download the booklet or find your own way to practice the STOP for the sake of our mission together. Have a beautiful Christmas and New Year!
