Bishop David Bard is overseeing the Minnesota Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church as interim bishop. This assignment begins January 1, 2021, and continues until another bishop is assigned, but no later than December 31, 2021.
The Dakotas-Minnesota Episcopal Area comprises two separately governed conferences: the Dakotas Annual Conference and the Minnesota Annual Conference. Although the two conferences genrally share one bishop, for this interim period, Bishop Laurie Haller of Iowa will assume primary supervisory responsibility for the Dakotas Conference, and Bishop Bard of Michigan will assume primary supervisory responsibility for the Minnesota Conference.
Bishops facilitate strategies for equipping Christians for service in the church and world.
