Recommended for newcomers to conference session, this is an opportunity to hear what to expect, find out how legislation is handled, and learn about the budget and other proposed legislation. This gathering takes place on Wednesday from 9:15 to 10 a.m. at the River's Edge Convention Center. There is no fee, but pre-registration is appreciated.
Childcare, staffed by a licensed provider and additional adults, is available for children birth through 10 years old. Fees are charged per family (rather than by child). An array of vendors will be on-hand with crafts, services, and other products to benefit congregations and clergy. Stop by and check them out.
Kits or supplies for the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) can be brought to the collection site at the convention center. They will be taken to the Midwest Mission Distribution Center in Illinois and then distributed around the world where they are needed most. Collection sites are near the front doors or at the rear of the convention center (for larger loads), wheeled carts and assistance is available. You can bring any of the kits advertised on either the UMCOR website or the Midwest Mission website.
Active clergy enrolled in HealthFlex need to make appointments for Blueprint for Wellness screenings available on-site Thursday, June 1. Information is being sent directly to plan participants. Retirees on the Conference Supplement Plan will need to contact Jim Nienaber for a screening appointment.
Universal Church Directories will be on site taking photos of clergy for an on-line directory. The electronic files will be given to Communications and will be available for use. They will not be selling photo packages but will provide each person photographed an 8x10 and a clergy photo ID (if desired). All clergy are encouraged to take part.
