Preparing for Conference

Prior to the start of conference session, it is recommended that you review the annual reports, proposed legislation, and proposed budget. These materials will be available for download from the conference website in late May. 

Individuals are welcome to print this material (which is expected to be approximately 50 to 75 pages) on their own. If you prefer, a printed copy can be requested during registration and mailed to you. (Approximate mailing dates: June 1, June 15; requests received after June 15 packets are mailed can be picked up at the registration desk.) 

What to Bring With You

  • Sweater – temperatures fluctuate in the convention center
  • Comfortable shoes – things are fairly spread out
  • Confirmation of conference registration and lodging – for checking in
  • Conference materials – available online in May
  • Love Offering – checks will be gathered during the opening banquet
  • Snacks – if you wish to munch between meals
  • The United Methodist Hymnal and The Faith We Sing (only if you would like musical notation for hymns; words will be projected on large screens)


Conference participants are responsible for their own housing. Make your reservations early as some properties fill up quickly. Be sure to identify that you are with the Minnesota United Methodist Conference when making your reservations.

St. Cloud State University

As a low-cost option, we have arranged for dormitory rooms at St. Cloud University. Single rooms are available for $35 per night (doubles are available upon request for $50 per night). Linens and bedding are provided, there are community bathrooms, and there is no air conditioning or in-room Internet access. Campus parking passes must be purchased in advance for $15. Reserve dorm rooms while registering for conference.


St. Cloud Campground and RV Park

Located just minutes from the Convention Center, the RV park is offering a 15% discount.  Mention "Minnesota Annual Conference" when you make the reservation.

The Facility

The River’s Edge Convention Center in St. Cloud is a large facility. Annual conference session is the primary event while we are there, but the building is still accessible to the public. Practice safe habits with your personal property; do not leave valuables unattended.

Internet access: There is access throughout the building, and any passwords needed will be posted. We suggest downloading any materials you may need in advance of the conference as we cannot guarantee access speed during peak-use periods. There are electrical outlets around the perimeter of the room.

Audio amplification units are available for the main gathering room at the convention center. Devices are available at the information desk.

Scooter rental is available for those needing mobility assistance. The cost is $50 per day. Reservations can be made in advance by contacting Gail Johnson or with the information desk at the conference.

Parking: Paid parking is available in the River’s Edge Convention Center ramps located below and beside the building. The fee is $5 per entry, paid on arrival. On event days, cash, Visa, MasterCard and Discover are accepted as payment. There is also parking in the Grand Central Ramp located across the street from the building, and there is metered parking along the street.

St. Cloud city buses are free for event participants with the presentation of an official event name tag.
