Minnesota Conference

The purpose of United Methodist annual conferences is to make disciples of Jesus Christ by equipping their local congregations for ministry and by providing a connection for ministry beyond the local church, all to the glory of God. The Minnesota Annual Conference leads in this through what it identifies as its "Gospel Imperatives": Grow in Love of God and Neighbor (the Great Commandment, Matthew 22:37-40), Reach New People (the Great Commission, Matthew 28:19-20), and Heal a Broken World (the Great Proclamation, Luke 4:16-21). Our Journey Toward Vitality is a strategic road map that outlines the paths we're taking to achieve our mission.

Starting new United Methodist faith communities and helping existing congregations reach out to their mission fields are the two primary ways that the conference helps churches to reach new people.

Connecting churches to the ministries and resources of the United Methodist Church and enabling them to support these ministries are among the ways that the annual conference provides a connection for ministry beyond the local church.

The Minnesota Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church is the regional organization of United Methodist congregations in Minnesota. The United Methodist Church is the third-largest Christian body in the United States.

The annual conference offices are located at 122 W. Franklin Ave., Suite 400, Minneapolis, MN 55404; telephone: (612) 870-0058.

The churches of the annual conference are organized into five geographic districts: Big Waters, North Star, River Valley, Southern Prairie, and Twin Cities. Each district has a district superintendent appointed to oversee churches and pastors in the district.

Every year, lay people and clergy come together for an annual conference session, where they determine mission priorities, ordain ministers, hear challenges to grow in faith and witness, and celebrate how they have brought God's love to others in Minnesota and around the world.
