He is one of the most important North American theologians of the twentieth century. Cobb is often regarded as the prominent scholar in the field of process philosophy and process theology. He is the co-founder and current co-director of the Center for Process Studies in Claremont, California. He has been influential in a wide range of disciplines, including theology, ecology, economics, biology, and social ethics. Cobb is the author of more than twenty books, including Process Theology as Political Theology, Grace and Responsibility: A Wesleyan Theology for Today, The Earthist Challenge to Economism: A Theological Critique of the World Bank, Transforming Christianity and the World: A Way Beyond Absolutism and Relativism, A Christian Natural Theology, and Spiritual Bankruptcy: A Prophetic Call to Action. He is an ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church and lives in Claremont, California.
