The Camp and Retreat Board (CRB) is authorized by the annual conference to develop and manage all aspects of the camping ministry on its behalf. The board works closely with Keith Shew, the director of camping and retreat ministries. Volunteers are employed to conduct the team's work, to serve on various committees, to lead camping programs, and to accomplish work at the sites.
Current projects include:
The conference made some hard but critical choices at the 2012 annual conference session to sell camp property in order to invest in our future. Proceeds from the sale of Camp Kingswood to the Three Rivers Park system were used to pay off the debt camping had accrued, and about $1.2 million is available for future capital improvements. Decision Hills Camp is currently being marketed for sale. With the help of Kaleidoscope, a consulting firm, the Camp and Retreat Board has a master plan for future development. Two key pieces of that master plan are the building of a new dining hall and multi-purpose space at Koronis to replace the Tabernacle and the hoped for acquisition of some adjoining property at Northern Pines. The Koronis building is in the design phase.
The Camp and Retreat Board meets quarterly.
