The Ministry Discernment Retreat is a one-day event that introduces the options for certification in lay ministry. Explore your gifts and possible calling to serve in your congregation or beyond. The class opens the door to equip you for leadership and ministry in the United Methodist Church and explains the roles of certified lay servant, lay speaker, lay minister or consider candidacy for licensed local pastor, deacon or elder. There is no obligation to move forward.
Classes will be offered at the following dates and sites in 2017:
January 28—Detroit Lakes UMC, Duluth Hillside UMC, Redwood Falls UMC
February 11—Cross Winds UMC, Maple Grove; Northfield UMC and Stewartville UMC.
The goal of the retreat is to help you:
1. Identify your spiritual gifts (and the gifts of those around you)
2. Understand the ways God might be calling you to use those gifts in your context
3. Contemplate the ways the United Methodist Church can help to equip you for living out your ministry in your community (from the local level to the global!)
Please feel free to contact Janet Beard for more information (email@example.com or 763-300-6619).
