Monday, June 20, 2016: Pre-conference workshops

  Fighting Back Against Domestic Violence - One of 4 women will have experienced it in their lifetimes (one in 7 men). What are the signs? How can we help? How can we even start the conversation? Speakers from women's shelters and survivors will be with us to help us understand what's going on and how we might respond. 
  5 Broken Cameras -  View and discuss this provocative film highlighting the Palestinian/Israeli situation. Hosted by the Palestine Israel Justice Project.
  Awesome Worship with Cathy Townley - Talk about the right sequence for making worship changes. Gain practical tips for finding new music, increasing hospitality, creating great transitions and "Holy Spirit Moments," and ending each service strong to encourage worshippers to return.

9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Orientation to Annual Conference (Convention Center, Opportunity Suites)
11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Banquet with worship, episcopal address and opening motions
  There is room for everyone at the table as we gather for a family-style meal, worship, the Bishop's message, and communion 
2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Open-space conversations - How we can be God's gifts
  Holy conferencing to explore how we as Minnesota United Methodists can be a good gift to the world. We will use a form of conversation called “open space” in order to engage as many voices and ideas as possible.
5:00 p.m. Dinner (on your own)
6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Celebration in the park
  Gathering in nearby Lake George Park with entertainment, amusements, service project, blessing of confirmands and more.  Food trucks will be present. (Shuttle service will be available between the Convention Center, park, and primary hotels)
8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Rehearsal for Celebration of Ministry service

  Clergy will gather in the Carlson room at the convention center.
  Laity will gather in the ballroom of the Kelly Inn.

Noon to 1:30 p.m. Ministry fair and lunch (provided) – A grab and go meal will be provided in the convention center to allow time to visit the various churches, ministries and vendors at the expanded display areas
